The county states that the FOIA officer normally has five business days to respond. A response may disclose the record, redact protected parts, partly deny it, or deny it under a cited rule. The first fifty black-and-white letter-size pages are free, with later pages listed at fifteen cents each. These are paper-copy terms, not a special release-search charge.
Fulton County Jail Custody
The official Fulton County Jail page says staff care for pretrial detainees and people convicted and sentenced to this county jail. A pretrial detainee is held while a case is pending, so there may be no fixed release date. A county-sentenced person may have a calculable end point, but court changes and other holds can affect physical discharge.
The jail must not be confused with Illinois River Correctional Center. Both are in Fulton County, but Illinois River is a state prison under IDOC. Sheriff FOIA is the right route for a Fulton County Jail custody episode. IDOC is the right custodian for confinement at the state prison. Geographic location alone does not identify the record owner.
Request Fulton Jail Chronology

A Sheriff entry ending county custody does not by itself prove community release. Preserve the exact discharge or transfer label.
Fulton Jail Court Confirmation
The Circuit Clerk record answers what the judge ordered. The Sheriff record answers what happened to physical county custody. Those events can occur at different times. Remand means the court ordered a person held or returned to custody. Time served means the sentence is satisfied by custody time already credited. Neither term should be guessed from a blank roster result. A transfer continues the custody chain. A transfer within IDOC is not community release. A later PAROLE result means confinement has ended while state supervision continues.
For a federal matter, the USMS may retain legal custody while housing a person in a local facility. The BOP locator becomes relevant after federal designation and can later show Released or Not in BOP Custody, but those labels do not rule out supervision or another system. An ICE detainer is a request for notice and temporary continued custody. It is not proof that ICE took the person. The Sheriff destination entry must come first.
Fulton Jail Release-Day Questions
No reviewed Fulton County source states a standard release time, exit door, waiting area, property-return procedure, medication process, or weekend schedule. Those points should be confirmed with jail staff before travel. Do not infer local practice from another county or from the hours of a separate service.
